Orthodontics is a specialist branch of dentistry that covers the growth and development of the jaws and teeth, as well as correction of any problems. Orthodontic treatment usually involves using braces to correct a range of different conditions, such as:
- Crooked, prominent or gappy teeth.
- Misplaced teeth.
- Incorrect bite.
- Misaligned teeth preventing implants or other dental work
Various methods of braces can be used, such as fixed, removable or even ‘invisible’ appliances, which apply a gentle force to the teeth to guide them into a new position.
Our award-winning, specialist orthodontist, Dr. Megan Hatfield, puts together a comprehensive treatment plan for each individual patient and uses all the very latest orthodontics systems to ensure a comfortable journey to a fantastic new smile.
Dr Megan Hatfield has won a prestigious collection of awards for her orthodontics work with fixed, removable and clear “Invisalign” braces, including the coveted “Aesthetic Dentist of the Year” in 2014.
Orthodontics can benefit people of any age and at The Raglan Suite we treat children, teenagers, and adults:
The permanent adult teeth begin to come through about the age of 6 and the last milk tooth is usually lost by the age of 12-13. We are happy to assess developing teeth, especially if there are problems with the bite, misplaced teeth, missing teeth or decayed teeth requiring extraction. Simple orthodontics can sometimes reduce the need for braces later, or make treatment easier.

There is no age limit on orthodontics, providing there is good dental health. Our adult patients range from 16 to over 60. Adults may have missed out on orthodontic treatment when they were younger or may have noticed their teeth becoming more crowded with time. We will coordinate treatment with your own dentist if additional work, such as crowns or implants, is needed.
