Record numbers of Patients having Dental Implants7 February 2019 Categories: Dental implant
The number of dental implants placed by clinicians at a leading North Yorkshire Dental Practice have seen a dramatic increase during 2018.
Dentists at The Raglan Suite, in Harrogate, have placed over 1105 dental implants in 2018 for patients in the region, many of whom have been referred by their own dentist, a figure which is up from 968 in 2017. Dr Steve Byfield, Implant Clinician at The Raglan Suite attributed the growth to the addition of a new dentist joining the implant clinical team.
Dr Byfield commented, “We have seen an increase in demand for a fixed solution to replace missing teeth and needed to expand our team to meet the needs of our patients. The ability to fit dental implants in just one day to replace missing teeth or loose dentures, has increased demand for treatment whilst transforming lives.”
Dr Tim Doswell regularly lectures across the UK on dental implant systems and also works at The Raglan Suite added, “We work together with dental practices from around North Yorkshire and beyond to ensure our referring dentist network is kept abreast of the latest technology and procedures which enable us to support patients who may have lost all hope of having confidence in their teeth again. Dental implants provide a great solution.”
The most recent member of the implant clinical team, Haytham Abbas, said, ”It’s a pleasure to see first-hand, the difference having dental implants makes to a patient. Sadly, some patients have allowed their phobia of dental treatment to prevent them from seeking help, but the team here are so friendly, we focus on making the whole experience as comfortable as possible whilst providing excellent patient care.”
The team offer free dental implant consultations for patients who would like to consider replacing missing teeth or loose dentures.
Can dental implants be done in a day?9 October 2018 Categories: Dental implant Tooth extraction

Can dental implants be done in a day? It may come as a surprise to know that, YES, in many single teeth cases, it is possible to fit a dental implant in a day. In fact we do this procedure – known as an “immediate implant” – on a regular basis here at The Raglan Suite. It means that a patient can come into the practice, have the failing tooth removed and the implant placed together with an aesthetic temporary crown, all in the same appointment. There’s no need to wear an uncomfortable temporary denture or an unreliable temporary bridge. One visit. All done in the same day! The patient can leave the clinic with a fixed, functioning, natural-looking tooth, which is always the ideal solution, especially for front teeth.
After 3 months, when the gum has healed, the temporary crown will need to be replaced with a permanent crown, but the patient can have this done quickly and easily, even without the need for any anaesthetic.
What are the benefits of having dental implants done in a day?
As well as a much shorter overall treatment time at 3 months rather than 6, the “immediate implant” technique delivers a much more comfortable recovery. Patients report very little post-operative discomfort, swelling or bruising. However, the biggest benefit of all is that the final aesthetic outcome is the very best that dental surgeons can deliver. There is virtually no shrinking of the gum using this technique, which is very important to get the best aesthetic result.
Can anyone have this procedure?
The technique is ideal for any patient who has a crown on a front tooth that keeps coming off or where a tooth has snapped off at gum level or if the tooth is compromised. It is always advisable to book a free consultation first so that we can accurately assess whether the patient is suitable for an immediate placement.
Can you place more than one dental implant in one day?
In more extreme cases, where all the teeth need to be removed, it is also perfectly possible to remove all the offending teeth, place 4 implants and attach a temporary fixed set of teeth (a “fixed bridge”) all in one visit. Again, the temporary teeth are replaced by the permanent teeth after 3 months healing but at least there is no temporary denture involved.
Our team of implant surgeons at The Raglan Suite have a wealth of experience on placing dental implants and run courses for other dental surgeons in the UK to teach them their advanced techniques. If you would like any further information about this revolutionary dental technique, please do not hesitate to contact me at The Raglan Suite to arrange your complimentary consultation.
I’m missing a front tooth! What next?23 January 2018 Categories: Dental implant Uncategorized
In the aesthetically driven world that we live in, missing a front tooth would be devastating. Rightly or wrongly, we are often judged by the way we look. This is why missing a front tooth is embarrassing and socially awkward. Ask yourself the question – if you lost your front tooth, would you leave the house?
The traditional approach to replace a single missing tooth
So what happens if you lose a front tooth in an accident or a sports injury, or are told that it needs to be extracted?
FILLING A GAP WITH A SINGLE TOOTH DENTAL IMPLANT18 September 2017 Categories: Dental implant

The most common case we do at The Raglan Suite is fill a gap with a single tooth dental implant. There are a number of reasons why a tooth may need to be removed, such as extensive decay or infection, trauma, a root fracture, a failed post crown or failed root filling. As dentists, we always try to save natural teeth. However, if it is clear that the tooth can not be saved, a single tooth dental implant offers a long term, stable and predictable solution.
What is Peri-implantitis and how do we prevent it?25 July 2017 Categories: Dental implant

There is little doubt that the “gold standard” way to replace a missing tooth is with a dental implant. They are very durable and are completely independent of the adjacent teeth, which makes them by far the healthiest option, especially when compared to the more conventional tooth supported bridges. As a means of securing dentures, they come into their own; loose dentures which can barely bite through soft bread can be transformed into teeth which can bite into an apple!

So it is little surprise that the demand for dental implants in Yorkshire and the UK is growing rapidly and in response to this growth, there are more and more dentists offering dental implants as a solution.
